International Conference on Tocharian Manuscripts and Silk Road Culture

Tocharian Texts in Context.
International Conference on Tocharian Manuscripts and Silk Road Culture.

Announcement and Call for
Papers Conference to be held from 26 to 28 June 2013 at the Department of Linguistics, University of Vienna.

Since early 2011 the University of Vienna has been hosting an online edition project of Tocharian manuscripts funded by the FWF Austrian Science Fund.
Research on Tocharian is interdisciplinary and international per se, and much depends on cooperation with neighboring disciplines such as Buddhist studies and other philologies of Central Asian languages. The conference is therefore dedicated to the study of Tocharian texts and Tocharian culture in all its aspects, and open to transdisciplinary approaches.
Accordingly, papers about any aspect of Tocharian, contact languages and Silk Road culture are welcome.
Slots will comprise 20 minutes for papers plus 10 minutes for discussions.

Keynote speakers:
Desmond Durkin-Meisterernst (Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities)
Victor H. Mair (University of Pennsylvania)
Georges-Jean Pinault (École pratique des hautes études, Paris)

Please send us your abstracts (no more than 800 words excluding references) including your name and affiliation by 30 November 2012.
